Dr. Louise Treu, a retired astronaut and engineer, has always been captivated by the stars. Aware of imminent danger to our planet, she develops a plan that she hopes will save humankind…
This project began as a creative exploration of a story involving a scientist and a robot, and soon evolved into the opportunity to develop a short film.
It quickly gained momentum as the characters were developed through extensive creative collaboration within our team.
We chose to tell the story with only visuals and music, allowing viewers to experience and interpret the emotional journey themselves.
The score was chosen to highlight the beauty in sorrow, reflecting a sense of present sadness while still having hope.
We were drawn to the style of robots depicted in post-apocalyptic films and explored a variety of designs until we landed on the personality for ours.
Dr. Louise Treu, a retired astronaut and engineer, has always been captivated by the stars.
She now leads a team of engineers and scientists as the primary consultant for multi-generational space exploration at NASA.
Aware of imminent danger to our planet, she develops a plan that she hopes will save humankind through a first contact mission to a solar system believed to have the potential for life.
We narrowed the story to the most emotional part of the narrative: development of the robot and the hope that it would come to represent.
Sound design is a crucial element of every film.
Emphasis on sound effects highlights the animation whereas music highlights the story.
Effective sound design strikes a balance the two, as Josh explains.
